Glossary

The terms, in plain language.

Policy, curriculum and technology jargon comes up fast in school conversations. Here's what the acronyms actually mean.

Policy & frameworks

NEP 2020
India's National Education Policy 2020 — the national framework that shifts schooling toward competencies, flexibility, mother-tongue learning and holistic assessment.
NCF-SE 2023
The National Curriculum Framework for School Education (2023), which operationalises NEP 2020 into curricular stages, learning standards and assessment design.
Holistic Progress Card (HPC)
An NEP-mandated report that replaces marks-only report cards with a 360° view of a child — scholastic, co-scholastic, plus peer, self and teacher assessment.
CBME
Competency-Based Medical Education — and, more broadly, competency-based education: assessing what a learner can actually do, not just what they can recall.

Curriculum & boards

CBSE
Central Board of Secondary Education — the national board whose curriculum (including the AI & Computational Thinking curriculum for Classes 3–8 from April 2026) Abhigyaan content is tagged to.
ICSE
Indian Certificate of Secondary Education — a national private board; Abhigyaan content is mapped to its syllabi alongside CBSE and state boards.
MHSB
Maharashtra State Board — content is delivered in both Marathi and English medium, mapped to the MHSB syllabus.
NCERT
National Council of Educational Research and Training — sets learning outcomes and textbooks that Abhigyaan content aligns to.
AI / CT
Artificial Intelligence and Computational Thinking — the curriculum CBSE introduces for Classes 3–8, teaching algorithmic reasoning and responsible AI use.

Platform & technology

Agentic AI
An AI tutor that can plan, ask, explain and adapt across a learning task — not a single chatbot reply — grounded in the school's curriculum and the student's language.
.axp lab pack
Abhigyaan's immersive lab package format — a downloadable VR experiment (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) that runs on headsets and supported devices.
LMS
Learning Management System — where content, assignments, assessment, analytics and the admin suite come together in one place.
Learning Analytics
Real-time data on how students engage and progress, surfacing who needs help and which concepts a class is struggling with.
VR / AR / MR
Virtual, Augmented and Mixed Reality — immersive technologies used to let students step inside a lesson instead of only reading about it.
Zilla Parishad (ZP) schools
District-council–run government schools in Maharashtra; the core of Abhigyaan's 1,300+ school public deployment.
